Michael Golden Picks on Seattle!
When you need a giant monster attacking your city, destroying the skyline, and perhaps devouring a few citizenry, who ya gonna call? Why, artist Michael Golden, of course! Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con has just announced that Golden is "picking" on their city...but only because they asked him to--by providing this years traditional creature-fied convention poster.
Taking place March 31st-April 1st, the ECCC, has garnered a reputation for a "fans first" attitude, growing in it’s own monstrous way over the last five years, requiring a larger convention space for this years convention. "I've made sure to make the show about the fans, plain and simple," says Jim Demonakos, founder and owner of the show. "If the fans are having a good time and enjoying the show, then everything else works out. Fans walking in to the show will have a chance to see some of the best and brightest the industry has to offer under one roof."
Tapping Featured Guest, Michael Golden, for the poster duties is part of that ECCC fan appreciation agenda as well. "One of the thrills of doing the show has been getting some of the finest artists in the industry to create art especially for the show,” continued Jim. “The ‘theme' of the art is simple, it needs to feature the Space Needle and a monster/baddie, that's it!"
Something Golden more than delivers by paying homage to his own dinosaur art and adding that essential bit of humor via a giant T-Rex picking his teeth with Seattle’s beloved landmark. According to his agent Renee Witterstaetter. “Being the Godzilla aficionado he is, he simply couldn’t resist doing this piece!”
Known for his groundbreaking work on “The ‘Nam,” “Mirconauts,” and “Dr. Strange,” as well as current work on “Heroes for Hire,” “Iron Man,” and “Battlestar Gallactica,” Michael will be on hand both days of the ECCC, signing posters, sketching and promoting current and future projects, which include “Excess: The Art of Michael Golden” from Vanguard Productions; “The Creator Chronicles” from Woodcrest Productions, “Modern Masters” from TwoMorrows and “Michael Golden: Heroes and Villains” from Image/Eva Ink.
The “Golden Picks on Seattle” poster will be available as a very limited edition print only at the show, while the image is also featured on the ECCC t-shirt. For more details go to:
